I will now express my political opinions and frustrations on the way my country has been mismanaged.
No one's supposed to be perfect, not even Presidents of the United States. But debauchery has been and continues to be the strongest suit- seemingly ONLY suit- of the Bush Administration. An 8 year long contagion. Just when I think it can't get any worse, it absolutely does. And the sad part? Not enough people get it, not enough people know, NOT ENOUGH PEOPLE CHOOSE TO KNOW. (Sarah Palin/Sideshow McCain supporters--- I'm talking to you).
This illegal and never-ending war has massacred the lives of hundreds of thousands. Inconceivable damage emotionally, physically, terrestrially, economically, internationally. Exhausting resources, men women and families. Trillions of pieces of little green paper and gooey black guck define what it means to be powerful and the Bush empire goes after that power relentlessly. Bush's economic policies involving tax cuts for the rich- more money for more money. The rich get richer then play "sub prime mortgage" tricks on all of the thousands of ignorant peons left out of the rich get richer quick scheme. People reckless with their credit, acting like they can and should keep up with the richer rich.
It is far too plain to see that this man we call our nation's president and his administration have sat back for years while they profit off our blood, play on our fears and weaken our rights. More people will lose jobs (I'm thankful that I didn't major in investment banking at this point) and too many cannot afford basic necessities to live. Food prices up, gas prices up, rents are up, no one can afford a home much less a foreclosed one. We are bankrupt in so many ways because of the Bush Administration.
So today, this morning. Projecting $700 BILLION in mortgage bailouts. $1 TRILLION will be more like it says senate finance committee members who apparently never got the financial oversight job description memo. Can we even conceptualize in our cauliflower sized brains how much money that is? How much more debt we are in? How many generations of taxpayers will be burdened? Are we really letting freedom ring? How many messes we are heaving onto our future generations.. all because of greed and more greed for today?
THIS IS NOT PROGRESS.
I never felt like starting a 401K at work or purchased the beginner's luck Vanguard portfolio. Or signed up for the government's peace corps. Or voted for any Bush at any time. Why? Because I trusted my gut and marched to the beat of my own values and beliefs. It's a lonely march, but I know I'm in good company of a few. They pay attention. They do not live in fear. They plan on voting for people like Barack Obama-- who else can we turn to at this point? They try to act on faith and courage, hope for a better future and build the kind of future our children deserve to inherit.
In closing, I'd like to give a shout out to Educational Employees Credit Union of Fresno, CA for holding on to my savings and IRA. Or at least for now.
